Aldemis launches Foundry: combining AI-assisted software delivery with senior technology leadership
The monthly service gives founders access to development capability and senior technology direction without the cost or commitment of building an in-house technology team.
London, 8 September 2026 — Aldemis, the boutique technology advisory, has launched Aldemis Foundry, a monthly subscription service combining AI-assisted software development with senior technology leadership.
Designed for founders and small teams that need to turn an idea into working software without immediately building an in-house technology function, Foundry combines hands-on development with the technical judgement and direction of an experienced fractional CTO.
Clients buy a block of engineering hours each month and work directly with the people building their product. But the development hours are only part of the service.
Every plan includes fractional CTO oversight from experienced technology leaders, helping decide what should be built first and what shouldn't be built at all choosing the stack, reviewing what ships and steering the product as customer feedback comes in.
It gives founders access to the technical judgement they would otherwise need to hire a CTO, or potentially give up equity, to secure.
It is a monthly service with no minimum term, no statement of work to renegotiate every time the plan changes, and no discovery phase billed by the week before a line of code gets written. Foundry operates as a monthly service with no minimum term, no statement of work to renegotiate every time the plan changes and no lengthy discovery phase before development begins.
Three tiers are available from launch. Start is £1,500 a month for 50 hours with regular technology calls. Build is £2,000 for 100 hours and adds a dedicated technology manager plus quarterly strategy sessions with Aldemis's senior partners covering technology, product, go-to-market and positioning. Scale is £4,000 for 200 hours with extended call time and twice-quarterly partner sessions. All prices exclude VAT, and every engagement begins with a free introductory call.
“The economics of building software have changed significantly over the last two years, but much of the way the market buys and sells software development hasn't changed with them,” said Richard Ney, co-founder and technology partner at Aldemis.
“AI-assisted development means we can now get from an idea to working software much faster and more efficiently than was previously possible. Foundry is our response to that shift, making that capability accessible to founders through a flexible monthly model. What hasn't changed is the value of someone senior in the room," Ney continued.
"AI has made writing code cheap. It hasn't made knowing what to write cheap. A non-technical founder can now get a lot of software built very quickly, and that's precisely when they most need someone to say: not that, not yet, and not like that. Foundry combines delivery and technical direction in one engagement, because separating them is how founders end up with a fast, cheap version of the wrong product."
Aldemis has spent the past year advising growth stage technology businesses on exactly this problem, largely in fintech, payments, embedded finance and other regulated sectors. Foundry takes that work a step earlier in the journey, to the point where a founder has an idea, a rough plan, and no obvious way to get the first version built properly.
"The bit nobody warns you about is that your first build decision is usually your most expensive one, and you make it when you know the least," Ney added. "Pick the wrong stack, or the wrong partner, and you spend the next eighteen months paying for it. What we want is for someone to be able to try us for a month, see something real, get a straight opinion on whether it's the right thing, and decide from there. If it isn't working, they walk. That's a healthier way round for everybody."
Alongside the service, Foundry launches with a growing library of practical resources aimed at first-time founders, covering topics including the seven stages of a business, why start-ups fail, the five numbers that matter in year one, whether a technical co-founder is really necessary and how to brief a software build effectively. Further resources will be added over the coming months.
